Copywriting Lesson from the movie "Hook"

In the movie “Hook” (1991), Robin Williams plays Peter Pan.⁣

The plot focuses on "The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up” — after he grows up.⁣

As Peter returns to his friends, they don’t recognize him as an adult.⁣

But one of the boys stretches and pulls Peter’s face until he finds hints of the young Peter.⁣

“There you are, Peter!”⁣

The Golden Copywriting Lesson

As you craft the words describing your business, look beyond the surface.⁣

Stretch, pull.⁣

Say things with a dash of magic.⁣

If you’re marketing a restaurant, avoid surface-level “We have great customer service and delicious food.”⁣

That sounds like everyone.⁣

Stretch, pull.⁣

Say, “Remember grandma’s house? Biscuits baking. Savory spices. Gurgling pots on the stove. There you are, in your favorite seat at the old table, surrounded by loved ones and oft-told family stories. That’s the atmosphere we provide, serving each plate with lots of love.”⁣

Over the top? Perhaps.⁣

Forgettable? Not a chance.⁣

In your marketing, Neverland pixie dust goes a long way.
